Middle Eastern Missionary Update

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 8:12

Grace United,

We hope you had an excellent end to the year filled with the presence of our Lord. We begin the year of 2024 full of hope and spiritually renewed. We praise God for this!

In our last letter we shared that we were praying for God's guidance regarding our next steps. In December we went to North Africa to confirm if that would be our new place. During the trip we did not feel a clear confirmation from God. We continued praying, feeling that God still had something to reveal. At the beginning of the year we received an official invitation from our organization to serve at the International Office in the area of Strategic Coordination.

Starting this month we will adopt a new name for our project, it will now be called An-Nur: Light to the Muslim World. It is necessary to adopt a new name because our scope of work has been expanded to the entire Muslim world and not to a specific region. An-Nur (The Light) in Arabic ٱلْنُّورُ is a term that means "He Who Illuminates, Reveals and Guides". And our prayer is that this project will bring The true Light that illuminates, reveals and guides all Muslims.

There are still many details to be resolved, but our expectation is to move in the second quarter of this year to Spain where Frontiers has an office. We are very happy with this opportunity to serve in a strategic and global way.

Our goal is to leave Brazil 100% healthy, so we continue our health treatments, which are unfortunately taking longer than expected.

In addition to starting to serve in this work , I (Rafael) have been working on putting together a training video based on a well-known book, in addition I will be teaching Missionary Strategies at the Seminar Word of Life here in Brazil, where I will be next month. We are also doing some online and personal visits to our partners before our departure.

Once again we thank you for every thought, prayer, message, and care for our family. We continue to count on your prayers and support in this new challenge that the Lord is calling us.

Thanksgiving
  • For our trip to North Africa, despite many setbacks in the end, we went and returned safely. It was great to see friends who work there and get to know a different reality from our experience.
  • For the spiritual renewal we experienced at the beginning of the year.
  • For God's direction for a new project, continuing to bring Jesus, our Light, to the Muslim world.
  • For Thomas. He lost his first teeth, he also has good friends at church and is very excited about the start of classes at his new school.

Prayer Requests
  • For our health, especially Carol who still has the after-effects of the surgical complication.
  • For Thomas's emotional and spiritual life. He has experienced several challenges and we need prayers to cover his life.
  • For the preparation of the class that will be given in March at the Word of Life North Seminar. So that it raises more workers for the harvest.
  • For God to go before us and prepare our new home, Thomas' school, new friends etc, so that all needs are met for this new challenge.
