Spanish Missionary Update
Renewing my passion for Spain
We sat in a circle around a map of Spain, praying for the towns whose names were on the pieces of paper we had just chosen. Each paper held the name of a town in Spain without a Bible believing church or a witness of the gospel of Jesus. We had come to learn about how to communicate the gospel in the cultural context of Spain, but for me this time of worship and prayer was the highlight of the last weekend's conference. God used this time to renew my passion for leading people in Spain to Jesus. It was so encouraging to be around others who are giving their lives for the same purpose.
Time together
One session this past weekend was about how Spaniards view time and relationships differently than us North Americans do. We want to be efficient and get things done, but for a Spaniard, any time spent together isn’t time wasted. Also, most Spaniards change their minds through experiencing something rather than being convinced something is factually true. Show God’s love practically can be more important than trying to convince someone of the truth of something. This means more time talking, and being a true friend.
Coffee time
Keep praying for my friend Fran, that our time spent over coffee can open his heart to God’s love for him, and that he will respond. You’ve prayed for Miguel, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in getting together again.
In my next email I’ll tell about a recent Facebook campaign, and some upcoming video projects.
Thanks for your prayers for me, for my family, and for people in Spain.
In Christ,
Rolly Walter
