Brazilian Missionary Update
Camps in July
July is winter in Brazil. During this month over 3,000 people attended our youth, children and family camps in Atibaia, Curitiba and Porto Alegre. It was a great harvest over 450 kids dedicated their lives, many of them making a first time decision for Christ. Thank you so much for all your prayers. Many kids come from rough back grounds and we thank you for helping through our scholarship program - 40% of our goal was reached so far, through American and also Brazilian donations. What a wonderful opportunity to preach the Gospel and see young people making life changing decisions.
Seminary and Bible Institute
Our Bible Seminary (and 1 year Bible Institute) is packed packed this year. Right now 214 students live on campus being prepared to serve in local churches and ministries around Brazil. We just had our “seminary for a weekend” event with over 150 in attendance. Most of them really interested in studying with us next year. This is exciting! We know some of them aren’t able to do it in the next 1-2 years because of job, school or finances but the record number of new candidates has surprised us a lot. Graduation will be in December, please pray for all new students coming in 2024. Thank you for giving towards the scholarship program. Even some Brazilian churches are giving and we Praise the Lord for that.
Growing Staff in Southeast and Southern Brazil. Pray for us!
Brazil is a large country. From north to south we are divided in 5 different regions. Our responsibility, mine and Agnes’s is to oversee the two most southern regions where Sao Paulo, Rio, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre are located. We have the privilege to serve along side a wonderful staff of 110 dedicated missionaries. Together we have the challenge of reaching over 30,000 people with the Gospel every year. So exciting and so challenging too. Please continue to pray for our team, for the families, for spiritual and emotional growth.
WOL Brazil 70 anniversary in 2027
The official 70th celebration of Word of Life in Brazil will happen only in 5 years. Our prayers are for the ministry to reach many more young people with the Gospel by 2027. Besides growing in our overall ministry impact, some of our needs are to expand our physical capacity, this means to renovate and build new facilities. On the list we have: increase the size of the chapel, also build new family apartments, a new classroom, new dorm and sports facility. Of course we need a miracle, but God is a specialist on making miracles happen. So please pray with us! Our desire is to bless the Brazilian people and bring glory to God through what we do.
Melissa's wedding
YES, we are so excited! Our daughter Melissa is getting married this month (September 16th). We are so thankful God brought Melissa and Michael Head together. He’s is good christian man. The ceremony will be in Dallas TX, after that Melissa will move to Charleston SC where Michael lives. Thank you so much for praying for the newly couple.
Mark's WOL NY Bible Institute graduation
Our son Mark completed one year Bible Institute at the Word of Life NY. What a tremendous opportunity to learn from the Bible and have his life changed. Before graduation in August he spent 2 months at the WOL Island camp in Schroon Lake NY serving in different ways, specially through the program team. Right now Mark has arrived in Virginia to study at Liberty University. Thank you for always praying for our youngest son, for God to continue to build His caracter in his life.
