What God Desires for His Children

God reaches people exactly where they are, not after they have cleaned themselves up or figured everything out. Romans 5:8 reminds us that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. That single word, while, reveals the heart of God. He does not wait for us to be ready. He steps into our mess and begins the work of moving us forward. But His love does not stop at meeting us where we are. He loves us too much to leave us there, and He is always calling us into more.

That forward movement happens in three distinct shifts. The first is from bondage to sonship. Galatians 4:7 declares that we are no longer servants but sons and daughters, heirs of God through Christ. A servant operates from fear and obligation, but a son operates from relationship and identity. When your position changes, your thinking must change with it, and when your thinking changes, your words follow. The second movement is from immaturity to maturity, which happens through digesting and declaring the Word of God and trusting Him through difficult seasons. Just as ingredients go through heat to become something beautiful, God uses hard circumstances to develop us into who we could not become without the process. The third movement is from promise to possession. At some point, what God has spoken over your life must be actively pursued through the combination of grace, faith, and obedience.

No matter where you find yourself today, whether you are a new believer, someone who has grown lukewarm, or a longtime follower coasting on autopilot, God is still moving and He is inviting you to move with Him. If you have stumbled along the way, the process is simple: repent, reset, and recommit. What looks like a period in your story may only be a comma in God's. He has not changed His mind about you, and He has surprises waiting that you cannot yet imagine.
